Roll-off dumpster rental in Eastham
Eastham is roughly 42 miles from our East Falmouth yard, about an hour without traffic, Route 6 the whole way, and past the Orleans rotary the highway becomes a surface road with traffic lights.
Eastham is where the Cape narrows and the rules change. Roughly a third of the town lies inside the Cape Cod National Seashore, established in 1961, and the Route 6 corridor is the only real spine through it. Past the Orleans rotary the highway stops being a highway: two lanes, traffic lights, left turns across oncoming traffic, and a summer volume that turns a five-minute hop into twenty. That is the reality of working out here, and we would rather tell you than pretend otherwise.
The work itself is mostly cottage-scale. Eastham filled in with modest seasonal houses through the 1950s, 60s and 70s, on small wooded lots off sandy side roads, and a large share of them are now being renovated for year-round use or handed down and cleared out. Roofs, siding, kitchens, decks, and a great deal of accumulated contents. The lots are tight, the driveways are sand and scrub pine, and septic systems sit closer to the driveway than anyone would design today. We have been sizing containers for those constraints since 2011. Call, describe the site, and we will pick the box that actually fits.
Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Eastham
Knowing a town properly is the difference between a container that fits and a truck that has to turn around.
- Salt Pond Visitor Center — The National Seashore's main visitor center off Route 6; the roads around it are a real bottleneck in season.
- Nauset Light — The red-and-white tower moved back from the eroding bluff in 1996, at the end of a narrow residential road.
- Three Sisters Lighthouses — The three small wooden lights relocated inland from the cliff, tucked in the woods near Nauset Light Beach.
- Coast Guard Beach — Seashore beach with shuttle-only parking in season; the approach roads are not truck-friendly on a July afternoon.
- First Encounter Beach — Bay-side beach where the Pilgrims met the Nauset people in 1620, at the end of a low, sandy road.
- Eastham Windmill — Billed as the oldest windmill on Cape Cod, sitting on the green right beside Route 6 in the town center.
How we reach Eastham
There is one route in and it is Route 6. The numbered exits stop at Orleans, so from the rotary north you are on a surface road with signalized intersections at Brackett Road, Nauset Road, Samoset Road and the rest. Left turns off Route 6 in July are the single biggest source of delay on our Outer Cape run. Side roads off the highway are narrow, sandy and often unpaved past the first few hundred feet, with soft shoulders and low pitch pine and scrub oak on both sides. Nauset Road and the beach approaches are shuttle-heavy in season. We schedule Eastham northbound and early, and we will tell you honestly if an afternoon slot is a bad idea.

What comes out of Eastham properties
Eastham's stock is dominated by small and mid-century seasonal houses: one-story cottages, ranches and expanded capes built from the late 1940s through the 1970s on wooded quarter-acre and half-acre lots, usually with crawlspaces rather than full basements. That produces light, bulky debris in large quantities. Asphalt roofing over old cedar, wood paneling, dropped ceilings, single-pane and early aluminum windows, cedar shingle siding chewed up by salt air, and pressure-treated decks reaching the end of their lives all at once. The town also has a genuinely old core near the windmill and Fort Hill, including antique houses with plaster and heavy framing that behave completely differently on the scale. Sandy soil, private wells in parts of town and Title 5 septic close to the surface mean the ground under the container matters as much as the container itself.

| 15 Yard Dumpster | typically about 16 ft long × 8 ft wide × 4 ft high | about 4-6 pickup truck loads | 2 tons | Two-room remodels, garage and shed cleanouts, small roof tear-offs. |

Permits, placement and access in Eastham
Eastham has carried a twelve-month demolition delay bylaw since 2008, which can apply to qualifying older buildings, so a teardown needs lead time. On the container side, the thing that catches people here is the Seashore. If your driveway or access lane runs off a National Seashore road rather than a town road, that surface is federal property and truck access has to be confirmed rather than assumed. Placement in a town road also requires clearance from the town. Check with the Town of Eastham for your address, tell us what you learn, and we will build the delivery around it.
How it works
Booking a dumpster in Eastham
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about four minutes.
- 1
Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the box needs to sit and when you need it, and whether the property is on septic. No forms, no waiting on an email.
- 2
We size it and quote it flat
Tell us which surface it is going on — crushed shell behaves very differently under a loaded box.
- 3
Delivered on boards, where you want it
The driver walks the spot with you, lays protection under the rails and sets the container square. On the narrower lanes here we will call ahead rather than guess at the turn.
- 4
Load at your own pace
Keep it level with the top rail and keep the banned items out. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call and we are on it.
- 5
We haul it and sort it right
Clean concrete, scrap metal and green waste are separated for recovery rather than buried — that is what the Massachusetts disposal bans require, and it is why a clean load costs less than a mixed one.

Local answers
Dumpster rental in Eastham — common questions
How far in advance should I book an Eastham delivery?
Off-season, two or three days is comfortable and we can sometimes do next day. In July and August, give us most of a week. You are 42 miles out on a road that becomes a two-lane surface street past Orleans, and we sequence the whole Outer Cape run in one trip. A booked morning window is reliable. A last-minute afternoon request in August frequently is not, and we would rather say so up front.
My driveway is soft sand under the pine needles. Will the truck sink?
It can, and we would rather not find out on your property. Tell us before delivery. Options include setting the container closer to the road on firmer ground, laying down plywood or timber cribbing under the wheels and rails, or scheduling for a period after rain when sand actually compacts better than when it is bone dry. A roll-off truck is heavy, and a stuck truck is a much worse day than a slightly longer carry.
Is my septic system at risk from the container?
Very possibly, and Eastham is a town where we ask about this every time. Lots are small, leach fields are often between the house and the road, and a loaded 20 yard box concentrates several tons over a small area. Crushed pipe or a collapsed distribution box is a five-figure problem. Show us your Title 5 plan or mark the tank and field, and we will place the box where it cannot do damage.
Can I put a container on Route 6 in front of my house?
Route 6 through Eastham is a state highway with narrow shoulders, heavy volume and no realistic room for a container, so the honest answer is almost always no. Placement on a town side road needs the town's clearance and is not automatic. In practice, nearly every Eastham job we run is set on the property, even if that means a longer walk with the wheelbarrow. Call and we will look at your specific frontage.
