Roll-off dumpster rental in Yarmouth
Yarmouth is about twenty-three miles east of our East Falmouth yard, roughly forty minutes out Route 28, or Route 6 to Exit 72 or Exit 75.
Few towns on the Cape are as neatly split by a highway as Yarmouth. South of Route 6 you have West Yarmouth, South Yarmouth and Bass River, the Route 28 corridor of motels, cottage colonies, mini golf and the tourist economy that grew up after the war. North of Route 6 you have Yarmouth Port on Route 6A, inside the Old King's Highway historic district, with sea captains' houses and stone walls. Same town, two centuries apart.
Our work follows that split precisely. The Route 28 side keeps us busy with motel refurbishments, cottage colony updates, seasonal rental turnovers and the occasional full redevelopment when an old motel changes hands. Furniture, mattresses, carpet and bathroom fixtures move in volume, and mattresses have been on the Massachusetts disposal ban list since November 2022, which changes how we handle them. The 6A side is careful, slow, antique-house work: plaster, lath and old growth lumber coming out of buildings whose exteriors need committee approval before anything goes back on. We keep both kinds of container on the schedule.
Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Yarmouth
Knowing a town properly is the difference between a container that fits and a truck that has to turn around.
- Judah Baker Windmill — An 1791 windmill, moved several times, now standing on River Street in Bass River above Nantucket Sound.
- Bass Hole Boardwalk — The long marsh boardwalk at Gray's Beach in Yarmouth Port, at the end of Center Street.
- Captain Bangs Hallet House — A 19th-century sea captain's house on Route 6A, home of the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth.
- Taylor-Bray Farm — A working historic farm off Bray Farm Road in Yarmouth Port, open to the public.
- Seagull Beach — The town's largest beach, on the West Yarmouth shore facing Nantucket Sound.
- Bass River — The broad tidal river that forms the boundary between Yarmouth and Dennis.
How we reach Yarmouth
Yarmouth is the farthest east we go on a routine same-day basis, so the run matters. Route 28 the whole way is the simple version, through Hyannis and along the south shore, but in July that stretch through West Yarmouth is stop-and-go past every motel and ice cream stand on the strip. The faster option is Route 6 to Exit 72 at Willow Street for Yarmouth Port and the north side, or Exit 75 at Union Street for South Yarmouth and Bass River. Motel and cottage colony lots off Route 28 are the real constraint: entrances are narrow, the pavement is old and patched, and the lot is often full of guest cars until eleven in the morning. Up on 6A the driveways are gravel, tree-lined and close to stone walls.

What comes out of Yarmouth properties
The Route 28 corridor gave Yarmouth a building stock unlike anywhere else on the Cape: hundreds of small motel units and cottage colony buildings from the 1940s through the 1960s, put up cheap and fast, and now being renovated, converted or knocked down. Those jobs produce bulk furniture, mattresses, carpet, bathroom fixtures, paneling and thin framing lumber in enormous quantity relative to the floor area. Behind the strip sit 1960s and 70s ranches and split-levels on modest lots. South Yarmouth and Bass River add waterfront houses being lifted or rebuilt to current flood standards, which means treated lumber and old foundation material. Then Yarmouth Port, north of the highway, is antique territory: full Capes, half Capes and captains' houses with plaster on lath and heavy old framing. One town, two completely different container plans.

Choosing a container size in Yarmouth
Weight is what usually decides the size, not how much space the pile takes up.

| 10 Yard Dumpster | typically about 12 ft long × 8 ft wide × 3.5 ft high | about 3-4 pickup truck loads | 1-2 tons | Heavy, dense debris and tight driveways: concrete, brick, tile, one-room gut. |
| 15 Yard Dumpster | typically about 16 ft long × 8 ft wide × 4 ft high | about 4-6 pickup truck loads | 2 tons | Two-room remodels, garage and shed cleanouts, small roof tear-offs. |

| 40 Yard Dumpster | typically about 22 ft long × 8 ft wide × 8 ft high | about 12-16 pickup truck loads | 4-5 tons | Structural demolition, commercial and multi-unit work, high-volume bulky debris. |
Permits, placement and access in Yarmouth
On a motel lot, a cottage colony or a private driveway, placement is between us and the property owner, and that covers the majority of Yarmouth work. Street or shoulder placement should be checked with the town first, since Yarmouth publishes fire code information but no dumpster-specific permit page we could confirm. The Town of Yarmouth website lists the DPW, building and fire department contacts. If the project is in Yarmouth Port north of Route 6, remember that the historic district committee reviews exterior changes, which affects your timing more than it affects placement.
How it works
Booking a dumpster in Yarmouth
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about four minutes.
- 1
Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the box needs to sit and when you need it, and whether the property is on septic. No forms, no waiting on an email.
- 2
We size it and quote it flat
Tell us which surface it is going on — crushed shell behaves very differently under a loaded box.
- 3
Delivered on boards, where you want it
The driver walks the spot with you, lays protection under the rails and sets the container square. On the narrower lanes here we will call ahead rather than guess at the turn.
- 4
Load at your own pace
Keep it level with the top rail and keep the banned items out. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call and we are on it.
- 5
We haul it and sort it right
Clean concrete, scrap metal and green waste are separated for recovery rather than buried — that is what the Massachusetts disposal bans require, and it is why a clean load costs less than a mixed one.

Local answers
Dumpster rental in Yarmouth — common questions
When is the best time to clear out a seasonal rental in Yarmouth?
The shoulder seasons, which on this side of the Cape means late September through November and again in March and April. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day the Route 28 lots are full of guest cars and access windows are short. If a turnover has to happen mid-season, book us for early morning on the changeover day and we will be off the lot before the next guests arrive.
Can mattresses from a motel refit go in the dumpster?
Not in a general mixed load. Massachusetts added mattresses to its disposal ban list effective November 2022, along with textiles, so they have to be handled separately for recycling rather than thrown in with demolition debris. Motel refits generate them by the dozen. Tell us the count when you book and we will set up the right arrangement, which is far cheaper than having a loaded container rejected at the scale.
Does Yarmouth Port have extra rules because of the historic district?
Yarmouth Port sits north of Route 6 inside the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District, which reviews exterior changes: siding, roofing, windows, additions and outbuildings. The container itself is not what the committee looks at, but the work that fills it usually is. Approval takes time, so get it in hand before you schedule the dumpster, otherwise you pay rental days while waiting on a hearing date.
Our motel parking lot is tight. What size can you actually deliver?
Most older Route 28 motel lots take a 15 or 20-yard container comfortably, and many will take a 30 if there is a straight run for the truck to back down. What kills a delivery is a narrow entrance with a curb on both sides, or overhead wires at the property line. Send a photo of the entrance when you call and we will tell you honestly what will fit.
